We’re your Medicare and Health Insurance Heroes!
Countdown to Open Enrollment
What are my best options for health insurance?
Am I going to be surprised when I use my insurance?
Will someone explain co-insurance to me, please?
Is it going to rain tomorrow?
We have a couple of insurance heroes for you.
The Insurance Twins. We got this. We’ll answer all your questions (even the rain one).
All fun aside, we shop to find the plan that has:
The Doctors You Want
The monthly premium you can afford
The benefits you need
You can get year-round coverage!
If you can’t afford a premium, we have OPTIONS of REAL insurance plans you can buy YEAR ROUND. These are called Short Term Coverage, and you’ve probably heard all kinds of stuff on TV about them, from people who know very little about health insurance (really, do they know anything about anything?). These products are good alternatives if you aren’t receiving a subsidy BUT they’re underwritten – that means that generally preexisting conditions are NOT covered. If you’re healthy and can’t afford an ACA plan, we can quote these for you…….
We’ll save the day with the best coverage for your needs!
Do I have to pay extra to use the Twins?
That’s a big NOPE. Your premiums are the same if you allow us to assist you, plus you get a birthday card 😁
Andy and George get in early and don’t leave until late every day, so while the Insurance Twins go the extra mile, your wallet doesn’t have to.
What makes a plan more expensive than others?
You might qualify for a federal subsidy, run a quote here…… to find out. If you have any questions, call us at 844-97-TWINS. Let’s break it down in the following questions about deductibles, medication coverage, and networks.
Why do deductibles matter when choosing the best plan?
A high deductible will lower your premium but will also have you paying more before the insurance kicks in. When looking at the benefits, if anything says “co-insurance,” you are looking at a medical encounter (a fancy phrase for using your plan) where you must meet your deductible. Once that’s exhausted, there’s a percentage of the remaining balance until you meet your out-of-pocket maximum. Man, that’s exhausting. Let’s illustrate it for you. Andy, you’re up!
What about coverage for my prescriptions?
Most insurance companies share similar formularies (watch out, that’s another fancy word for the list of all prescriptions they cover). They organize the prescriptions into generics and brand names as well as levels: tier 1, 2, 3, 4, sometimes even 5. Generics are going to be less expensive, and your co-pay will be lower based on the tier. Okay, now that we got that out of the way, you might ask how does it affect premiums? Plans will apply deductibles to some of the levels and apply lower or higher copayments to reduce premiums. If you’re taking medications for a chronic condition, have us help you do the math. Sometimes a lower premium means more.
Don’t I want the biggest network possible?
Networks (not TV networks) are the doctors, facilities, and hospitals contracted to accept patients on behalf of a plan. This one is simple to explain. The smaller the network, the lower the premium. Small networks help insurance companies manage costs but at the expense of reach and waiting times for consumers. We can check and teach you how to navigate the provider search tools to help you decide what’s best for you. If you like your Doctor….
